Cloud computing company
We are a cloud computing company, therefore the services we offer are based on the technologies / functionalities below.
Cloud computing is the on-demand availability of IT system resources, especially data storage (cloud storage) and computing power, without direct active management by the user. Large clouds often have functions distributed across multiple locations, each of which is a data center. Cloud computing relies on resource sharing to achieve consistency and typically uses a pay-as-you-go model, which can help reduce capital expenditures, but can also result in unexpected operating expenses for users.
The US National Institute of Standards and Technology's definition of cloud computing identifies "five essential characteristics":
-
Self-service on demand
A consumer can unilaterally provision computing capabilities such as server time and network storage as needed automatically without requiring human interaction with each service provider.
-
Wide access / broadband to the network / internet
Capabilities are available over the network and accessed through standard mechanisms that promote use by heterogeneous thin or thick client platforms (eg, mobile phones, tablets, laptops, and workstations).
-
Pooling of resources
The provider's computing resources are pooled to serve multiple consumers using a multi-tenant model, with different physical and virtual resources dynamically allocated and reallocated based on consumer demand.
-
Fast elasticity
Capabilities can be elastically provisioned and released, in some cases automatically, to rapidly scale outward and inward in proportion to demand. To the consumer, the capacities available for supply often seem limitless and can be appropriated in any quantity at any time.
-
Metered / managed service
Cloud systems automatically control and optimize resource usage by using a metering capability at some level of abstraction appropriate to the type of service (eg, storage, processing, bandwidth, and active user accounts). Resource usage can be monitored, controlled and reported, providing transparency for both the provider and the consumer of the service being used.
