Cloud computing is the on-demand availability of IT system resources, especially data storage (cloud storage) and computing power, without direct active management by the user. Large clouds often have functions distributed across multiple locations, each of which is a data center. Cloud computing relies on resource sharing to achieve consistency and typically uses a pay-as-you-go model, which can help reduce capital expenditures, but can also result in unexpected operating expenses for users.
The US National Institute of Standards and Technology's definition of cloud computing identifies "five essential characteristics":
IaaS, or Infrastructure as a Service, is a cloud computing model that provides on-demand access to computing resources such as servers, storage, networking, and virtualization. IaaS is attractive because purchasing computing resources to run applications or store data traditionally takes time and capital.
When creating a company's account / channel, the first user automatically receives the admin role of the channel. It can create roles and accounts.
The portal is used by many companies and they have come up with the explicit requirement to limit users' access to functionalities based on the roles they belong to.
Within the functionalities to which a company has contractual access, an account related to a role will only have access to the functionalities to which that role has access.
A user account can have multiple roles which makes restricting access to functionality and data flexible.
The portal is structured on modules, each with specific functionalities.
When creating an account / company channel, you can choose the modules to which you want access, hence the exact estimate of operating costs. By knowing exactly what is being used from the time the company channel is created or configured, operational cost is accurately estimated and our provisioning of hardware resources helps us maintain a constant level of portal scalability.
Once a company channel has been created, with contracted modules, it is possible to opt for a reconfiguration in the sense of contracting new modules or renouncing already contracted modules. These operations can be done within the legal terms of the portal.
The portal is hosted in a tier 3 data center. It ensures the physical integrity of the servers through human security and fire and flood protection. The data center also provides us with redundant access to power sources and a redundant connection with a very high bandwidth to the Internet.
We use a virtual environment, with virtual machines hosted on redundant servers down to the CPU level, memory DIMMs, ssd and hdd.
We only use licensed and up-to-date software. In addition, we monitor 24/7 the traffic related to the portal.
At internally established time intervals we back up data in separate data centers with the possibility of quick go up.
